Date: 05th November - Dramatic change in climate but certainly not in hospitality!
Going from 35ºC to 10ºC was a shock, some welcomed it, some are dreaming of past days but all of us loved our first day of work at Yew Chung School, Shanghai. We loved working with the students at Yew Chung, telling us all we need to know about how to get around shanghai, places to go as well as well as getting stuck right in with the workshops, of course! While China is a whole new world for us and we came in somewhat unaware of what we needed, we are loving the work here already!
Date: 14th November - Two weeks to go!
We have about two more weeks left of our 3-month tour and we cannot believe how quickly it has gone!
We have just finished our second week in Shanghai where we worked across both sites of Shanghai American School for 4 days and it was so much fun. We had a great time with their students and felt so welcomed by all the teachers and students!
Up next, a 12-day stint to finish off the tour! Wish us luck!!
Date: 23rd November - Express Fest, wow!
We had the opportunity to join in with NKCS’ first Express Fest. Hosting 5 schools from around Wuxi/Shanghai area, the students were put into groups to create their own Platform Theatre performances. We did a day of workshopping the style and a day and a half creating and finalising their performances for one big showcase that happened this afternoon. We all felt so incredibly proud of what the students created and how well they worked together despite not knowing one another. What an incredible event, thank you for inviting us along!
Date: 28th November - School’s out!
We have finished our final working day of our tour! We cannot believe we finally reached this day and quite how quickly it came around!
We concluded our final week of shanghai visiting the wonderful Wellington College who we had the pleasure of meeting at the FOBISIA Junior Theatre Festival back in March! The best time showcasing our performance, working on student devised pieces, and of course, teaching their students the fundamentals of Platform Theatre.
During our 5-days with them, we delivered a whopping 46 workshops in total. Needless to say, we are pooped! A huge thank you for making our final working week on tour so memorable!
