A group of thespians stumble upon an ominous book filled with grisly and gory tales. Will the thespians be bound to act as the book's puppets? Destined for a life or performing, but never truly free...
Twisted Tales is a Five star Platform Theatre piece which includes four anthology folk tales which all conclude with a twist.
Our "visually stunning piece" flips performance conformity on it's head and introduces a new and innovative way of showcasing theatre.

WE AT BOX HOUSE STRIVE TO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR THE SCHOOLS WE VISIT. WE DECIDED VERY EARLY ON THAT OUR WORKSHOPS WILL ONLY EVER BE DELIVERED BY THE CAST AND CREATIVES OF OUR PIECES - NOT EXTERNAL FACILITATORS. OUR PACKAGES ARE DESIGNED TO GIVE NOT ONLY STUDENTS, BUT THE TEACHERS WE WORK WITH THE BEST POSSIBLE EXPERIENCE. WE WORK ALONGSIDE OUR TEACHERS TO TAILOR OUR PACKAGES TO ACHIEVE THE GOALS OF WHY THEY WOULD LIKE A VISIT - WHETHER THIS BE TO WORK ACROSS THE ENTIRE SCHOOL THROUGH TASTER WORKSHOPS, OR TO WORK WITH SPECIFIC YEAR GROUPS TO REALLY HONE IN ON THEIR PLATFORM THEATRE EXPERIENCE.

OUR RESTRICTIONS UNLOCKS OUR CREATIVITY
Platform Theatre restricts actors to the confined space of a gym mat whilst having no assistance from props, set, costumes, and sound. actors only have their physical selves and voice to tell their stories. Twisted Tales does not rely solely on words to build the worlds in which our characters inhabit, our series of choreographed movements transport the audience from the cosy fireplace hearth of a woodland cottage to the bloody and violent battle of Wessex.
Box House Theatre strives to create weird and wonderful theatre through the act of restricting. By doing this, we believe that working with minimal space, no set, and no digital assistance, we are forcing ourselves to create from imagination alone.
By implementing boundaries in our creative process and having complete faith in an actors arsenal, we demonstrate that you can still create great theatre by limiting yourself to use the bare-minimum as a springboard.
