This month marked an exciting milestone for Box House Theatre Company—our very first trip to Malaysia!

We had the most incredible time exploring the vibrant city streets to the lush (and very hot) jungle, the journey was nothing short of unforgettable.

We kicked off our trip in Kuala Lumpur, participating in the FOBISIA Junior Drama Festival. It was an incredible experience connecting with so many talented young performers from across the region, sharing the power of theatre and collaboration. We were blown away by their final showcase and were so proud of all their energy, enthusiasm, and passion.

During our time in Kuala Lumpur, we also had the pleasure of

spending a day at Epsom College Malaysia. Not only were we amazed by the beautiful grounds, but also the creativity of it's students. We begun the day with a performance of Twisted Tales which was then followed by a series of workshops. All staff and students were so welcoming and we are so grateful for a day filled with conversation, learning, and connection—a true highlight of our visit.

From there, we hit the road and drove south to Johor Bahru. The city and surrounding areas offered a delightful contrast to the bustling capital. We explored stunning waterfalls, savoured amazing local cuisine, and even visited some of the nearby islands, soaking in the natural beauty of Malaysia.

Every stop on our journey was a chance to experience the warmth, culture, and vibrancy of this incredible country.

Our first Malaysian adventure was an extraordinary mix of performance, exploration, and cultural exchange. and While we may not be rushing back for durian, the hospitality and warmth we experienced everywhere we went ensure that Malaysia will always have a special place in our hearts.

We can’t wait to return, continue building connections, and share the magic of theatre with even more communities across Malaysia.
