FOBISIA Drama Junior Festival 2025

Box House Theatre had the incredible opportunity to take part in our very first FOBISIA Junior Drama Festival held at the incredible Garden International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

Over the course of the festival, we were not only able to share our work on stage, but also dive deep into our creative process with an extraordinary group of students and teachers. Through workshops, devised pieces, and collaborative sessions, we explored the fundamentals of our practice and watched students embrace new ways of thinking about theatre-making. Their energy, imagination, and willingness to dive headfirst into the unknown made the entire experience unforgettable.

From leading intensive workshops to helping students build their own Platform Theatre pieces, the festival became a space of experimentation, growth, and genuine connection.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the experience was seeing teachers and students take our methods and make them their own. Many educators developed workshops inspired by our style, guiding their students to embody the Box House ethos in bold and imaginative ways. We’ve even heard that some students have started leading sessions back at their schools—repeating our words (sometimes exactly) and continuing the journey well beyond the festival.

At Box House Theatre, we’re passionate about offering young theatre-makers a fresh perspective on the possibilities of performance. The FOBISIA Drama Festival gave us the chance to do just that—on a bigger scale than ever before—and reminded us why this work matters.

We’re proud to have been part of something so dynamic, and we’re already looking forward to the next chapter.
