Musical Theatre has been a long standing success within the theatre industry. But what makes it incredible? The songs. And what is a musical theatre song without a stellar performance?

This musical theatre audition masterclass will offer an in-depth session that will provoke thought and character development through practical exercises and text analysis. The day will consist of various practical exercises that will work specifically with the participant's chosen contemporary, classical, and musical piece. This workshop is designed to provide the participants with the tools and exercises needed to present their chosen monologues and song to their highest ability within an audition scenario.

 

This workshops musical element will be is lead and designed by industry professional Matthew Hobbs. Credits include but are not limited to National Gilbert and Sullivan, The 12 Tenors World Tour, Choir of Man - West End, Australian, and United States Tour.

One vital part of musical performance that is often ignored is the mental preparation and attitude needed. Performing a song can be daunting for even the most confident of artists. Matthew's well-rounded knowledge and skills will create a safe space for your students to work past any vulnerability and focus on how to enjoy the process.

In this workshop your students will have the opportunity to gain insight from a working professionals, explore the fundamentals of acting through song and text, and how to successfully portray a character when performing. Through a variety of industry standard exercises, your students will also be given the tools to explore the process of showing character, how we communicate this to an audience, and most importantly, how to approach a performance with confidence.
