Making theatre 3.3
Within this workshop, we will be exploring the study of text analysis and character development for a set performance piece. We will provide a variety of practical and text-based exercises to successfully develop a character by using the text provided, learning how to incorporate artistic interpretation while staying true to the script, and how to give a fully recognised, complex, and realistic character performance.
We will offer an in-depth session on how to analyse text as a performer through the use of tools such as 'The Magic If', inner monologues, obstacles, and objectives, while working towards creating a better understanding of how we can draw from the script to develop character vocally, physically and emotionally. This workshop can be fully catered to contemporary or classical texts for your leisure.
Each exercise will be explained in great detail so that the participants can successfully use the techniques in the future, understand why this is an important part of creating performance and why such an in-depth process is needed to create a fully rounded and authentically represented character.
Optional (free of charge): For future use and theoretical purposes, the entire workshop can be recorded and made privately available after it has taken place. We believe this is extremely effective when working and developing, it helps to remember what was discussed and practiced while allowing you to move freely without having to worry about taking notes!
